Dear Neighbors,
The New Hartford Public Library annex is taking shape. Since the new building was opened in 1999, library usage had shown dramatic growth necessitating the current expansion. We will soon have a 20,000 square-foot facility to serve community educational and recreational needs. This means, thanks to the community’s strong support, we will almost double the size of the library. The library already has the second highest circulation in Oneida, Madison and Herkimer counties. Each day over 500 patrons use the library. The addition allows a doubling of the Children’s Area, an expanded Teen Area, an additional Community Room, additional Study Rooms, and more shelves for materials. A new entrance will be closer to the main parking lot thus saving many steps up the long hill. There will be an elevator and stair access to the main floor. These are only some of the new features.
We have raised close to $1,800,000 from individuals, businesses, grants, town, county, and state governments. You too can be part of the success of the library. With your help we can complete the plan. We still need almost $200,000 for the needed furnishings and other items not strictly part of the construction cost. No gift is too large or too small. Funds raised will cover the costs of items to complete the addition. Gifts can be made in the form of cash, checks, stocks, securities or property. Please consider the value of having this first-class facility in our community when making your decision.

Thank you for your contributions and also patience with the construction. We are certain you will find the temporary inconvenience worthwhile. If you have any questions about making a gift or about the facility, we would be happy to discuss them with you.
Sincerely,
