Art Display Policy

The New Hartford Public Library encourages organizations and individuals to use the library's display areas. Educational and cultural displays are welcome. Commercial or political displays are prohibited.

The glass display case in the hall, the art wall in the main room, and the walls in the multipurpose room are available to the public. Applications for exhibits must be made through the Library Director and will be processed on a first come first serve basis. Library exhibits are viewed by children and adults who have various degrees of maturity; therefore, exhibits on display must meet standards established by the library personnel. Library personnel reserve the right to reject any exhibit in full, or in part.

Permanent use of display areas are not permitted by any individual or organization. Exhibits will normally be limited to a period of one month with definite display dates established in advance. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to set up and remove the exhibit in accordance to the established schedule. If assistance is required, it is the exhibitor's responsibility to provide such assistance. All publicity material relating to the exhibit must be submitted to the library for approval before release.

Prior to display, the exhibitor will provide the Library Director an itemized list of display items. Artists are encouraged to post a statement about their works.

The Library's insurance policy covers only items owned by the library. All exhibitors are required to sign a Exhibit/Display Agreement which release the library from responsibility for any items in the exhibit.
